How to get your school involved

Host a Hero Day by encouraging your students and teachers to dress as their favourite everyday hero and make a donation.

It's simple to get involved, register online and host a mufti-day any time that suits your school. Then ask students and teachers to dress as their favourite everyday hero or wear orange & blue and make a donation. Why not go the extra mile by having other fundraising activities on the day, the sky's the limit!

All funds raised will ensure sick kids will have a home-away-from-home at Ronald McDonald House Westmead whilst they receive critical care and treatment in hospital.

Meet Ava, just one of our everyday heroes.

For families like Ava's, this feeling of stress and anxiety that we're all experiencing right now is not new. They have been in a crisis for months and for some, even years.

At just four years old, Ava was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer. Her family's world was immediately turned upside-down. Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS was able to support Ava and her family by providing them with a home-away from home for 280 nights whilst she received critical treatment.

"Ronald McDonald House Charities helped us not only survive but thrive during the hardest time in our lives"  Ava's Mum, Kath

It is imperative that we continue to raise funds to support families like Ava's. These families have no choice but to be close to the hospital to receive vital care for their sick children.

This global crisis is having an impact on us all. But for families with a sick child, it has added another stress and will continue to impact them.

Join us in showing seriously ill children and families that we are here for them. Supporting them, now more than ever.

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Wow, wow and WOW! What an incredible group of every day heroes!

This amazing school put on their hero capes and raised a total of $2,313!

But when you look that cute is it any surprise?! From doctors and nurses, to teachers and firefighters, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School held an incredible Hero Day to support seriously ill children and their families.

The school held fundraising activities on the day, utilised the resources provided to write the sweetest messages to families in the house, and even showed the students an educational presentation that was provided from Ronald McDonald House GWS. (Available to all schools, just reach out!)

Our gratitude to this entire school community cannot be put into words and we believe the Assistant Principal said it best "I'm so proud of our community".

About Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney

Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families.

Our Westmead House provides warm and supportive home-away-from-home for families of children who need to travel to Sydney Hospitals for critical care and treatment. We create a safe and welcoming environment where families can stay connected, and parents can communicate more easily with their child's medical team.

In the past year alone, over 2,100 families from regional and rural Australia stayed at a Ronald McDonald House in Sydney. Allowing parents and carers to focus on what is most important, the health of their child. Watch the video below and see why you need to stand with Mitchell and all kids with a serious illness or injury.
