Time until we Ride for Judd!
The dedicated Ride for Judd team will be hitting the road Friday October 23rd!
In July 2019, our 11 month old son Judd stopped breathing completely.
After many doctors appointments and hospital visits, Judd was diagnosed with a hole in his heart, a genetic disorder, malrotation of his intestines and much more. Our family swiftly relocated from our hometown of Orange and moved to Sydney to ensure Judd would receive the care he required. This is when Ronald McDonald House Westmead first became our home away from home.
We weren’t only offered a roof over our head, but a support network I could never have imagined. The generosity, care and love are what helped to keep us pushing through the tough days.
Without Ronald McDonald House, Judd wouldn't have had his sisters by his side which is crucial for his recovery and has helped keep him happy. I would have struggled dealing not only with my son’s medical conditions but also being away from our girls.
Now, we are riding over 230km to pay it forward for families with a seriously ill child like ours.
I will never be able to repay the staff, volunteers and Ronald McDonald House supporters for keeping my family together when we needed each other most, but Ride for Judd is our chance to try.
Last year, our incredible crew of supporters – Judd’s Uncle, Dad and the entire Orange community, held Run for Judd and raised $30,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS.
This year, the boys are jumping on their bikes and riding an incredible 230km+ trip from Ronald McDonald House Westmead in Sydney, to our hometown of Orange. A trip that we as a family have done many times, and will do many more, as Judd continues to receive ongoing care at Westmead Hospital and we continue to stay at Ronald McDonald House.
On average, it costs Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS $160 to support a family for one night.
Please help us pay it forward to ensure the next seriously ill child and their family receive the care needed in their tough times.
