RMH Family Room enabled us to stay close to Tommy.
In November 2017 our beautiful Tommy was born at Katoomba Hospital. Within an hour of his birth, we found Tommy's oxygen was quite low and he was moved to a humiricrib where we were unable to hold him.
Unsure of what was causing Tommy's low oxygen, he had to be transferred to the NICU ward at Nepean Hospital.
Here, we were lucky enough to use the RMH Family Room for the duration of our stay. It provided so much comfort in an incredible tough time.
The simple assurance that you have somewhere to get food, have a coffee or just have a break away from the machines and hustle and bustle was so important to us.
We witnessed the impact it had on so many families, families that were much worse off than us. There were devastated families there when we had our stay, but the support we were all able to give each other made a difference, even for a short amount of time.
I am very passionate about giving back to Ronald McDonald House Charities GWS (RMHC GWS) so even more families can continue to feel the support that I felt
This is why I am running over 300kms to raise funds to support even more families.
Starting in Canberra, I will run all the way to Western Sydney across one week.
The journey will be tough, but the times families with a seriously ill or injured child go through are tougher.
On average, it costs RMHC GWS $160 to support one family for one night, so please give generously.
